just had my last exam in malcolm! who would have thought that i'll survive four gruelling years of studying law? several years ago, "when i was young and full of hope," i took the LAE because i didn't want to work right after graduation. i got stuck! mas matrabaho pala dito.

there is nothing worse than being stuck in the middle of things. when one starts staying in a cafe for several hours, feigning the need to study, in order to avoid boredom/idleness, that person is in serious trouble.

people don't detest work. when they are devoid of the things that would keep them busy, they freak out. everyone needs to be needed.

my sorority sisters and i have been extremely close to each other over the past few weeks (for good reasons!). well, not all of us. i haven't seen a good number of my younger sisters for quite some time. today at our project with gawad kalinga, i had the chance to interact with a very special sis. she is special because i couldn't count the number of times that i had the inkling to recommend her expulsion due to her shady reputation. i was dumbstruck when i found out that she got a very HIGH score in an aptitude exam for aspiring _____ students [sheeesh! i'm a bloody senior law student who had the (mis)fortune of interacting with very intelligent persons but boy was i impressed!].

i remember my philo professor who once taught us about how we tend to reduce people into categories - rich, poor, beautiful, ugly, righteous, dishonorable. what a slap in the face! i've been trying to get rid of this person whose potentials far exceed mine. not only that, today i saw how good she was in dealing with pesky little children (something that i will never be able to achieve even if my life depended on it).

what i learned today - "you can never can tell :)" - a life lesson that has been dangling in front of my face which i chose to ignore. i'm 100% sure that tomorrow or the next day or the day after, i'll be back to my old habit of categorizing, compartmentalizing and "kahon-izing" people. thank God! because when i start having this so-called monopoly to morality, that's the day when i will shoot myself in the head. but i'm grateful for what happened today.

during the previous weeks, i started losing my appetite. i had to force myself to eat during mealtimes for fear of being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance again. don't freak out. i'm not an anorexic. i don't believe that i am blowing up like a balloon. i just ate less food (specially rice) for no apparent reason.

christmas vacation. i tried to eat more food but my rice consumption dropped to an alarming level (i.e. five to six teaspoonfuls. yup, i couldn't even finish eating 1/2 cup of rice).

last night i had to force myself to eat dinner (again). it took me almost an hour to consume a piece of chicken wing. this morning i couldn't even finish my breakfast. oh, and i only had fries for lunch; i couldn't touch the hamburger that i ordered.

dinner. i consumed a piece of chicken, rice, 2 pieces of tart and 1/4 kilo of fruit. i still consumed only a few spoonfuls of rice but at least it only took me thirty minutes to finish my meal. :)

new year's resolution: less junk. more rice.

why am i surfing the net? i have an exam tomorrow!

the parts i enjoyed:

a. when one of the persons whom I actually respect approached us and talked about things. she is one of the more real persons in this melting pot of personalities.

b. singing in the wee hours of the morning. no pretensions. love for music. that's it. walang bullsh*t.

the part i hated, which prompted me to leave before i reacted violently (went somewhere to let off steam before coming back):

* I don't know how to write my reaction on this without sounding like I'm rambling (and offending the persons concerned, but this is my blog and i can write whatever crap i felt like writing).

It's one thing to be indifferent, but its another thing when people are starting to get cruel. I think the fact that someone (a fellow student) actually got hurt this afternoon should be taken into account before we start _________ (yes, people _________. i was sober when this happened and people cannot claim that it was just a figment of my imagination! oh, and people cannot claim that they _______ in good faith. there's no such thing!).

It's christmas and I think we should at least try not to _____ at other people's misfortunes. These people also spent their time, money and energy in order to prepare for that event, respeto lang. Tama, wala namang kinalaman 'yung hindi natin pagpunta doon. Kung ayaw natin, wala silang magagawa dahil karapatan nating mamili kung sino ang mga taong gusto nating makasalamuha. Pero 'wag tayong ______. (Mali; karapatan 'nyo rin palang _______ ang mga taong gusto ninyong ______. Pero shiet, hindi nakakatuwa!) [Sandali, sino ba ako para magsalita? I bet the people concerned would find it very annoying that I wrote about this. Wala akong pakialam kung magalit kayo.]

What if it happened to us? Di ba nakakainis? I know that we are "clannish" but this is too much.

2003 - had a difficult time in balancing law school and my extra-curricular activities. there were times when i felt that i've been robbed of my precious time.

when i look back, i realized that i don't even recall what happened in our persons and crim classes. hell, i don't even remember what happened in rem law tonight.

2003 - what i remember:

- orientation ( the fear that i might not qualify)

- ini (hah!)

- newborn baby (archon pia's announcement)

- deltan week (the HUGE tarpaulin for the make-a-wish kids)

- new blood

- 1st batch christmas party (now a tradition)

- barops head

the event. a clean slate. the return.

tonight i am reminded why i love them. no pretensions, no hypocrites, just pure clean fun.

it was actually scary. never been this generous before - to promise & to give something without expecting anything in return; to actually volunteer! considering the other equally important matters at hand - acads & the bar, scary. but when i'm old and as wrinkled as a prune, i will remember this night.

i went back to UP from the quezon city hall in tears.

what happened?

1. november 22 - i went to the QC notarial section and made a written request regarding a document for a case. they gave me a request form which provides that i should follow-up after five days.

2. november 28 - i called their office to inquire about the document. i was told to go to the city hall the next day.

3. november 29 - i went there only to be told that they still need more time. the person in-charge and i made an agreement - i should go back on monday and the document will be ready.

4. december 4 - the person in-charge was absent. an employee told me that they can't give me the document. i explained to this public servant (?) that i needed the document in order to file a pleading in court. he responded in a very crass manner "yung five days sa request form, follow up status lang! basahin mo yung dokumento!"

sensing that this pig (literally and figuratively speaking),who thinks that he is doing me a favor when he performs the job that we (the public) are paying him to do, is an unreasonable prick, i asked him if it was possible to talk to the head of the division. he replied, short of yelling at me, "gusto mong kausapin ang boss namin. sige! 'yang naka black and white. sige kausapin mo!"

i went to his superior and explained to her my predicament. she told him and another employee to attend to my needs.

while waiting for them to perform their duties, the pig called me and asked me if i'd be willing to WAIT IN THE OFFICE UNTIL 3 PM. I told him that i will come back at 3 PM because i have other things to do. he tried to show me the documents which he was sifting through. since i did not see how my looking at the ledgers could hasten his work, i told him that i just wanted the results and will come back at 3 PM. He responded in a very arrogant manner "Hindi ka pala interesado, e di LUMAYAS KA NA!"

i was too stunned to react so i just went back to UP. when i arrived in school, i started crying.

i have never been more humiliated in my entire life. some people gave me the names and cellular phone numbers of friends who are occupying very high positions in the qc hall so that i can lodge a complaint against him. technically, i could file an administrative case against them for the delay in responding to the written request that i made (think, admin law). not to mention the treatment that i received from this rude, crude and uncouth public servant. i chose not to do so because it's the holiday season; i do not wish to burden myself with another problem.

hello! i once went to the senate with a friend and the people there treated us like decent persons. nakapasok ako sa opisina ng apat na senador (including the senate president's office) na nakangiti ang mga tao, kahit estudyante lang ako. tapos sa city hall parang basura silang makipag-usap sa mga tao?

was browsing through the blog for our international economic law class. i noticed that around 90% of the females in the class included their middle initials (mother's maiden name - the first letter, anyway) in their names. on the other hand, only 10%-20% of the male students used their middle initials.

not sure if this can be attributed to the students' habits. but in my case, i wanted to make sure that my mother's name is not obliterated from my identity just because i am required to use my father's name. :)

went to the city hall this morning to claim the document that i asked for eight days ago. i called them before going to their office to make sure that the document is ready. they said that i can go there already.

when i arrived, they realized that there was an irregularity on the execution of the document that i was inquiring about (this is exactly what i was looking for in order to strengthen the case that i was handling). but they wouldn't issue a certification regarding the irregularity just yet.

i have to wait until monday. when the f*ck am i going to start working on the bloody pleading if i do not have the document that i needed?

if anybody's looking for the meaning of the word "incompetent," you don't have to look it up in the dictionary. go to the _____ city hall and you'll see.

my bed was so cold when i woke up so i decided to cut class for the nth time. went to school at 11 am to hang out with my friends. we ended up laughing our guts out when one of them shared his close encounter with the electric chair. here goes:

last year, he borrowed some law books from a friend (they are so damn expensive that every god-forsaken law student is forced to become resourceful). he started memorizing the provisions for crim. after a few minutes, he noticed that one of the penalties for a crime was death by the electric chair! that's when he decided to check the year when the book was published. lo and behold, the book was OLD! nyehehe.

i saw a philippine version of ozzy and sharon osbourne today.

the two persons whom i have encountered are quite fascinating. one wouldn't consider them as a beautiful couple (i.e. sharlene & aga) but they are more interesting; more intense.

obviously, i'm trying to find an excuse not to study tonight. i'm exhausted.

to be fair to the managers of the domain where i had my old blog, i removed some parts of my previous post ("why i moved out"). but it did really happen - i signed out, closed the window, re-opened the site and the article was there. let's just forget it because i assure you, i'm NOT suing anybody for the glitch.

also, i stand by what i said earlier that although i recognize their right to make improvements, it was really annoying when the whole damn blog was overhauled without my permission.

one of my favorite batchmates arrived from the States. it's a shame she didn't finish her degree in malcolm. she had the potential to become one of the scariest litigators in the country had she pursued her studies here.

still, she's planning to study law in NY or California (?). we'll probably follow her two/three years after graduation; llm (kaya ba?). then, we will convince two of the other '03s who are also studying in malcolm to do the same thing. magtatayo kami ng sariling law firm (?).

or i can just get married and have babies!

i noticed that most people from my batch are taking review classes this semester in preparation for the bar exams. i guess everyone's being practical. i mean it's well and good to take interesting subjects, afterall this is our last semester in the college. however, when one has to worry about the bar exams, all bets are off.

i took political review this sem and surprisingly i'm having fun in class. i'm glad i enrolled despite the fact that several people discouraged me from taking the subject.

oh, we had another dinner tonight. separation anxiety? :)

why i moved out

i once co-authored an article which was published in the phil law journal about electronic evidence. one of the examples that was used in that article was how martha stuart got burned because of the emails that she sent her daughter regarding her alleged (ay hindi na pala alleged because she was convicted) acts constituting insider trading.

yesterday, i freaked out because ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- but i went nuts for a few minutes.

apparently, they are updating everyone's account. my account went haywire. aside from the glitch on the draft, they removed the cute little picture (header image) which was one of the reasons why i stayed there. oh, and they also added some stuff to accommodate "my space," "flckr," etc (which, in my humble opinion, cluttered the whole thing - people write to express and not to impress). wrote the management about it; asked them if it's possible to revert to my old blog settings.

i didn't bother to attend the blog fora which were conducted in the college of law. not sure about the legal implications of what happened - changing one's account/settings without that person's consent (which leads one to ask about the nature of a blog account - what rights do the writers or the management of a domain have? ownership? if so, who is the owner? co-ownership?) and can somebody be held liable for an article which was inadvertently published, even if the publication was without that author's consent? maybe my blockmates can help me answer these questions :)

anyway, this is my new home. hope tessa can help me make some improvements :)
